Finally I find the time as I am now in holiday to write the article about this movies I've seen with Thibault and Florian a few weeks ago. As I'm not at home, I don't know when I'll be able to put it online, but I'll try to do it as soon as possible.

First of all, why did we choose to watch this movie ? Well as Thibault often goes to the cinema, we let him choose aa movie he hadn't seen, and he told us he'd like to watch this one. I have already seen movies with Forest Whitaker and appreciate this actor very much. So does Thibault. We weren't deceived at all. This movie was very good and we don't regret our choice...

The story :

Idi Amin Dada (Forest Whitaker) was the president of Uganda. He once met a Scottish physician that cured him, and they became friends. Amin started to give the doctor more and more responsibilities and offering him a work at his side. The physician became slightly more and more involved in the political decisions of Amin, leaving more and more his mission that had brought him in Uganda. When the doctor finally realized that Amin wasn't exactly the good man he thought he was, it was too late to flee. Amin Dada was one of the worst dictators of Uganda, and the naivety of the doctor had blinded him.

The critic :

This movie is very well done. As the story takes place in the late seventies, the quality of the film seems to be lower than it is. This confer an old atmosphere to the images. The colours, the pictures of Uganda, everything is carefully done. As regards the story, it is very well conduced, and a political real story that could have been boring turns out to be very interesting by the fact that we attach ourselves to this naive physician. The story is thrilling until the end, and the interpretation of both the doctor and the dictator are impressive. Even the casting is really good. I like Forest Whitaker very much, but I must admit that he was perfect in this role. As you can see in the pictures below, even the physical appearance is similar... A very good movie that I advise you to see...

My personal opinion :

When we decided to go and watch this movie, I was a little bit afraid to see a political movie that I wouldn't understand and that would be boring. Not at all ! This movie, as I just said above is remarkable for the way it tackles this topic. You can see it in so many different ways, and as I am by nature a quite naive man, I could really feel what the physician might have felt. forest Whitaker is impressive in the way he can seem so kind and gentle in front of the people. I would probably have been manipulated just the same as the doctor has been. And then, we discover as the movie goes on the real nature of the dictator, and Forest Whitaker is really good at this radical change. A very good movie, I did enjoy watching it even if some scenes are difficult to watch.
